Science Diet y/d is a GODSEND.
Our 8-year-old female Siamese mix developed hyperthyroidism last summer and medications were not able to be given without one person holding her and the other administering it. We were fast-losing her trust and love. Our vet then prescribed Science Diet y/d Chicken Dry Food. She quickly adapted to the y/d food and by day two was eating it voraciously and drinking water at a greater rate as well. Her cat box habits normalized and all three of us couldn't be happier!

Get a happier cat
My cat was diagnosed as hyperthyroid. Before his diagnosis, he was losing weight and begging for food. Little did we know he was really starving. After he started on The Hill's y/d he was calm and slept well and stopped losing weight. The food saved our cat and gave us a happier cat.

A lifesaver if I can get him to eat
This food works, but my cat doesn’t like the taste. He is a large cat, at one time 10+ pounds, but lost weight due to hyperthyroidism. We tried the pills, but he developed an intolerance for them. For three years I gave the canned food, mixed with chicken stock that I made from chicken legs that had been untreated. This was the only way he would eat the food, and he continued to lose weight without it. It worked! He gained about half a pound and his blood work was back to normal. Just this year however, he began losing weight and again his thyroid was over-producing. His numbers weren’t anywhere near what they were when first diagnosed, but still they indicated hyperthyroidism. Without this diet Lincoln probably wouldn’t be doing as well as he is. He was never a finicky eater, but he really doesn’t like this food.

Cured!
Our 16 y/o tabby named Speck developed a thyroid issue. Our vet suggested your thyroid care. She likes both your wet and dry. After a few months she gained back her recent weight loss and her thyroid tested normal. Thanks

Good, but I wish the kibbles were smaller
Overall, this product works and my cat doesn't mind eating it -- granted it's not her absolute favorite -- but I wish the kibbles weren't so big. My cat is rather small in general and sometimes it seems she has a hard time getting them down. She will gulp somewhat strenuously or sometimes shake her head and occasionally she even seems to attempt to clear her throat when she's done eating. I tried softening it with water but she then has no interest in it and it's unfortunately extremely difficult to break the kibbles into smaller pieces. Cats usually swallow dry food whole and these are pretty big to be going down for their size.

out of stock
Why is this product out of stock everywhere? What do I do to feed my cat? This the only thyroid food made.

When will it be available again?
Can you provide any estimate of when the y/d products will be available again? It is challenging to make medical decisions for your pet with no idea of if/when this will return. It just seems irresponsible, heartless, and contrary to your statements to pretend there are easy alternatives for the cats needing this food.

When will this be back in stock?
Our cat has done well on this diet. But now she is back on her meds because it's been out of stock everywhere for so long. It is much more expensive than her medications, but it was worth it for as long as it was available. When will it be back? And can we trust Hill's not to drop the ball again?
